At Marshlands we understand the need for our children to be able to regulate their emotions. With that in mind we are able to offer the following therapeutic interventions.
ELSA, Drawing and Talking, Sandplay, Friendship Terrace.
ELSAs are specialists with a wealth of experience of working with children and young people. ELSAs are trained and regularly supervised by Educational Psychologists. They can support the children and young person’s emotional development and help them cope with life’s challenges.
Drawing and Talking Therapy is the number one alternative to CBT and direct talking therapies, that can often be confronting or limiting in the processing of pain or trauma. As an attachment-based therapeutic intervention, Drawing and Talking Therapy is designed to complement CAMHS and other specialist therapies.
Drawing and Talking allows individuals to discover and communicate emotions through a non-directed technique, setting it apart from existing solution-focused and cognitive-based therapies and interventions.
Sand Play – to encourage young people.
To communicate their feelings and emotions in a non directed way using sand and toys to express themselves.
Friendship Terrace – small group intervention that encourages children to solve a problem after hearing a story of a character that struggles to make friends.
To complement the OT report targets we are also able to offer sessions with Riding for The Disabled. Children attend a local riding stables where they are encouraged to communicate with the volunteers, learn basic horsemanship skills and work on their core strength in a fun and exciting way.
