PSHE

Relationships and Health Education, Personal, Social, Health and Economic Education and Citizenship are referred to collectively as PSHE. PSHE is part of the whole ethos of the school. At Marshlands we believe that pupils should be encouraged to become as independent as possible, to prepare them for a role as active participants in society. Through PSHE pupils develop awareness and understanding of themselves physically, emotionally and socially. Also included in our curriculum is Online Safety as appropriate.

There are 6 main topics covered as part of the PSHE curriculum and Online Safety:

  1. Self-Awareness (Me, who I am, my likes, dislikes, strengths and interests) and Online Relationships.
  2. Self-care, Support and Safety (looking after myself and keeping safe; aspects of Relationship Education) and Self-image and identity.
  3. Changing and Growing (How I and others are changing; new opportunities and responsibilities; aspects of Relationships Education) and Privacy and security, Copyright and ownership.
  4. The world we live in (Living in the wider world) and Online reputation and managing online information.
  5. Managing Feelings (Understanding feelings and how I feel and how others feel affects choices and behaviour; aspects of Relationships Education) and Online bullying
  6. Healthy Lifestyles (Being and keeping healthy, physically and mentally) and Health. Well-being and lifestyle.

These topics are revisited on a 2-year cycle to allow pupils to revisit and build on knowledge/skills already developed.
