Ladybirds

Ladybirds is a Year 4, Key Stage 2 class who enjoy learning by following our semi-formal curriculum.

Mrs Jardine teaches in this class and we have three support staff: Mrs Marshall, Mrs Brogan and Miss Kennaugh.

In Ladybirds class, we help to promote the children’s communication through a total communication approach, look to develop each child’s independent skills, assist the children to create social connections and help children with general life skills.

We cover different topics each term through our work in all the subject areas and try to make this as fun as possible – expect to hear lots of laughter in Ladybirds class! The children enjoy learning through a multisensory approach and enjoy taking part in lots of sensory activities, role play, art activities, singing, dancing as well as the more formal aspects of developing reading, writing and maths skills. All activities are differentiated to suit each child’s level of development and needs.

Alongside the curriculum above we will also taking part in sessions based on: speech, life skills, social interaction, attention autism, sensory circuits, intensive interaction and sensory room time.

This term we are learning about Transport and exploring sensory stories in English, understanding number in Maths, plants in science and the history of transport in Creative Curriculum.
