Wrens is a small class for KS2 children (years 3 to 6) with a high staff ratio and a strong focus on nurture. The class teacher is Mrs Rackley and the teaching assistants are Ms Corns, Mrs Labute and Mr Wort.
In Wrens, the children have opportunities to follow a sensory- rich curriculum with plenty of explorative and hands-on learning. The children love their daily Attention Autism sessions and the very messy “fun with food” Fridays.
As a class, a total communication approach is taken to support all learners build their ability to communicate in the way that works best for them.
As a nurture-based class, every Thursday the class visit the sensory garden for Forest School sessions. This happens whatever the weather – we just make sure we have our wellie boots at the ready! It gives the class the opportunity to connect with nature, experiment in the mud kitchen or quite simply relax in the hammock.
In Wrens class, we strive to ensure our children feel supported and cared for whilst we help them build their independence and develop their life skills. We make sure we achieve this with plenty of fun, laughter and, most importantly, nurture.
