RE

Marshlands is committed to the teaching of Religious Education as an important subject in its own right; the main threads of learning help to make an important contribution to other aspects of the school’s curriculum and richly promotes its ethos. Through RE lessons we promote British Values, which include but is not limited to; mutual respect, tolerance and respect for others, as well as teaching how to be caring and sharing. In other areas of school life, we also look at democracy, rules of law and individual liberty. All of which, aims to help towards giving children an understanding of our wider society and our place within it.

We deliver lessons in accordance with the Staffordshire Agreed Syllabus in half termly units and do so using creative and sensory experiences to aid and enrich learning. Each unit taught begins from pupils’ own life experiences, progressing to learning about religion and its meaning for believers, and finally with the expression of their own views at a level appropriate to them.
