Play Doh Therapy

Play Doh Therapy is a structured intervention developed by the Staffordshire Autism Outreach Team. Designed for younger children, it uses simple play-based activities to help develop communication, social interaction and learning skills.

Children take part in activities such as rolling, squeezing, shaping and building with Play Doh, working individually or alongside their peers. As they progress through the programme, they practise following instructions, taking turns and working together.

Key skills developed:

  • Fine motor skills
  • Listening and attention
  • Turn taking
  • Communication and language
  • Vocabulary development
  • Teamwork and cooperation
  • Self-esteem and confidence
  • Executive functioning skills

Play Doh Therapy provides a fun and supportive way for children to build important skills through play
