Elm is an Upper Key Stage 2 class who enjoy learning by following our formal curriculum.
Miss Davies teaches our class 3 days a week and Mrs Buckless is the class leader for 2 days a week until October Half Term. We have two support staff: Mrs Payne and Mrs Timmis.
In Elm, we have a busy and fun packed timetable and enjoy a variety of different learning opportunities. We enjoy more formal aspects of our learning such as developing reading, writing and maths skills. We ensure that all activities are differentiated to suit each child’s level of development and needs -some of these activities will take on a more sensory approach and some will be delivered through a more formal approach.
In the Autumn term, we are exploring the topic of Dinosaurs and chocolate. We are looking forward to exploring a wide variety of texts in our English lessons such as ‘Tyrannosaurs Drip’ and ‘The dinosaur who lost her voice’. These will then flow nicely into our science and creative curriculum lessons where we will also be looking at fossils and how and why living things fossilise. We are hoping to look deeper into what fossils tell us and explore how scientists used fossils for famous discoveries!
Alongside the curriculum above, we will also be taking part in small group sessions based on: speech, life skills, social interaction and have the opportunity to visit our Cubbie in our intervention room.
We are all looking forward to a very busy year learning!
